William H. King Recognized with ASTM International Weingruber Award

ASTM International Committee F16 on Fasteners has recognized William H. King, manager of quality assurance and engineering for the Porteous Fastener Co. in Carson, Calif., with the Fred F. Weingruber Award. The committee cited King for "his outstanding efforts to promote and develop standards for the fastener industry. His contributions and dedication have helped to make the F16 Fastener committee a premier body for fastener standards."
King lives in Valencia, Calif.
An ASTM International member since 1994, King is F16 membership secretary and secretary of Subcommittee F16.95 on Long Range Planning and is also a member of Committee E06 on Performance of Buildings. In his position at Porteous Fastener, he educates Asian fastener companies on the use of ASTM standards, and at the same time, promotes the use of such standards.
In addition to ASTM International, King is a member of the Concrete Anchor Manufacturers' Association and the National Fastener Distributors Association.
He also serves on the B18 standards committee, Standardization of Bolts, Nuts, Rivets, Screws, Washers, and Similar Fasteners, of ASME International.
King began his career as a quality engineer with Shur-Lok Corp. and worked in other quality assurance positions and as a program manager before joining the staff of Porteous Fastener Co. In his current role, King oversees company
laboratories in California and Taiwan, and handles technical and quality issues arising from customer, supplier and in-house activities.

international standards development and delivery systems in the world. ASTM standards are accepted and used in research and development, product testing, quality systems, and commercial transactions around the globe.
